Navigator for Intelligent and Innovative Manufacturing

2026/06/30

PSMC formally established the Digital Transformation Committee, which implements smart manufacturing. Centered on production, processes, terminals, and smart diagnosis, the committee brings together factory experts and AIoT infrastructure, to connect machine and subsystem parameters in implementing digital transformation projects. The committee's purview include production schedule optimization; automated delivery channels; quality forecasting and monitoring; machine abnormality detection and component lifespan warnings; personnel operating safety; energy conservation; and improving human resource efficiency, machine productivity, and product yield rates. In quality control, the production quality system integrates machine parameter monitoring (FDC/ED) and measurement equipment, and includes AI and big data technology in the pre-, mid-, and post-production phases. Through 3P (prediction, prevention, protection) mechanisms, we keep tabs on and keep improving machine and product errors.

In 2025, PSMC and the semiconductor institutes at National Tsing Hua University and at National Cheng Kung University collaborated to implement 11 smart manufacturing projects. These range from protective maintenance on air compressors, machine dispatching optimization, and allocation optimization given limited transport resources, to automatic virtual measurement (AVM) for quality monitoring and intelligent predictive maintenance (IPM) technology. These projects have paid strong attention to ESG green manufacturing, and used big data demo applications to train expert research talents, thus continuing to build fully capable smart factory environments.
